Creative, Invention and Innovation

It was 29 December, 2010. It is just not theories for the entire module of that day. Professor Barjoyai brought a bag full of gadgets with him and shared them with us. Most of the stuff were new to us. Even some of the items were already in his possession for almost 15 years. A good invention, though, but not a good innovation. That was he said. If I were to compare with the next module later on, I would rather say the invention was "interesting" but not "important" enough to penetrate the market demand. And that would be a versus of opinions between Prof. Barjoyai and Dr. Roland Xavier for the latter module. (LOL) Both of them appeared to have a different point of view and they were both great with theirs. Prof Barjoyai encouraged us to think wrong ideas because in general, wrong ideas are great and good ideas. Handphone with batteries last forever. A mug which can change plain water into flavored soft drink. An invincible straw attached to your favorite drinks so you can enjoy your drink from far away.(like a bluetooth) Well, they do sound wrong to me but I had to admit that they were great ideas.

As for Dr. Roland, he is more towards a realistic person, quite different from prof. Barjoyai approaches. His module on Innovation was a day after the industrial trip to Inno Bio and StellaGen Sdn. Bhd. located in Nilai and Gombak respectively. He was a little bit harsh on the interesting idea because it was business after all. If you sell interesting idea rather than the important of it, in business, you'll die. You'll die for sure. When it comes to business, it is a cruel world. Interesting ideas do not get you far. He taught us to make a clear differentiation between an interesting idea and important idea. He gave a very good case study on pizzeria where a businessman named George tried to open the forth pizzeria targeting university's students as the target market. An idea which is not a very good one because in George case of study, his pizzeria does not have anything unique to offer. Thus, he can not compete with the other three pizzeria. Like Dr. Roland said, George had high determination and that would made him fail a lot faster. Poor George and poor us trying to help him scrutinized the case study and made a Value Proposition analysis using NABC (Need, Approach, Benefits per cost, and Competitors) analysis while what Dr. Roland really wants from us is to come with the best alternative for George..."quit and do something else".(Laugh)

The Best Module and yet at the same time..a scary one. It makes me scared in doing business even more. Oh, I'll look forward on learning business proposal preparation in the future. A part from that, each and every activities were great. We had fun cooking briani with Prof. Barjoyai even I can not really enjoy the taste due to fever I had that day. We also prepared bread using Special Gadget he brought. So it was more than what we could chew for one day.=)

Public Speaking and The Art of Negotiation.

We had a lot of fun acting and script writing and at the same time directing our actor and actress of choices. En. Hisham is very energetic when it comes to dealing with his audience. For him, his audience aura gave him energy and enthusiasm in conducting the module. Public speaking can be improved by joining discussion, practicing with large group in which members have the opportunity to exercise their speaking skills. These include the use of body languages and gestures, voice projectile control, pitches and notes to optimize one's own way of speech.

The Art of Negotiation module however, brings us more to the art of acting, exploring the variation in facial expression by meeting the tasks of role-play and the effectiveness of non-verbal communication in delivering the best act competing between each group. Competition among us participants had made our trainer entertained and we had a good laugh together.

Grooming – You Are What You Wear!

You are your greatest asset. That was the tag line for the module of the day, grooming. To be honest, I would say that this module is the toughest for a person like me who previously in the whole life never ever dress up well. When I first heard about grooming, one thing came up in my mind “Oh, this is going to be hard.” Compared to the technical module in the second month, Creative, Invention and Innovation which would be my favorite and I would rather say one of my best and my specialties, and yet grooming would be vice verse.
I learned a lot in the module. I now know that I am a warm tone person and some of my friends were cool tone person. Oh I see! The color of our choice really plays and important role to bring out the best of you. Doesn’t that great? Well, grooming is a new world for a computer geek like me to be honest. In front of the computer clicking nifskope, 3ds Max 2010, alias Maya, game editing, graphic texturing, meshes and all that, dressing up while doing the stuff was never came across. So, it is a good new thing to be learned.
Dining etiquette! Yes. Now we’re talking. This would be the best learning experience for me. I f someone want me to teach him right now, be my guest. =) I would be very enthusiastic to give demonstration to them from A to Z.

Powerful Presentation Skills

14th and 15th Dec, 2010. The module? Powerful Presentation Skills by En. Abdullah Md Yunos and his best friend, Pn. Rusilawati Kamarudin. In this module, it helps participants to build their confidence level. So, by the end of this module, they hope that at least we are able to learn basic component in presentation; style especially. Practice, practice, and practice. That was the tip given and for most of us, it will help to deliver good presentation. As for me, instead of practicing and memorizing, I prefer to know what I am about to deliver. The more you understand about your topic, the more you can give to your audience. It will be like a sharing moment between you and the audience. And that is of course solely just my opinions. During that days, both of our trainers recorded our group activities and by doing so, we were able to get to know ourselves better on how we give our speech, the way we talk to each other. I myself seldom have the opportunity to see myself in recording. Even if some of us felt really awkward towards how they themselves respond, it was a good step for future improvement, I believe.

Business Proposal 101

13 Dec, 2010 – Each group came up with great ideas; Biodegradable diapers made from pineapple fibre, Plastic container made from chicken feathers, Barrels of Artificial Pretroleum to be exported. Our McBio Supreme group however, decided to go for the very fundamental, recycle awareness. Pretty straightforward isn’t it? We McBio believed that each groups effort would be put into waste if our generation mindset is still in 3rd
class. Our generation doesn’t seems to take this recycle issues as serious as it should had. Because of that, we came up with a kit targeting Malaysian children as market group. We were really happy with our product that we discussing the contain of the kit thoughtfully till the end of the day. However, due to some heavy planning in which will be faced one after another if we really decided to pursue our original plan to a success. In the end, we McBio decided to keep this plan as a future plan for us to pursue by our own and for the BeST, we followed the other group and propose our biodegradable product for this module. Even though our original plan doesn’t fit the request for proposal, each of us McBio really want to brings the kits and the awareness campaign to act in the future. We pray for that.:-)

Effective Resume & Cover Letter

One of the module during BeST programme at uniRazak is how you write a resume. It is about creating an effective resume and cover letter for your job hunting.Preparing a resume is like commercializing your product, selling it and promoting the benefits of the product and the best part is that YOU are the product. You are selling yourself. By putting that in mind, you have to consider that the resume you are about to write will most likely determine whether or not you are offered an interview with the company you want.
With proper guide and detailed explanation by the trainers, Madam Norliza and Pn. Farahiyah, who for us participants, are among the best in this field, we were to make our resume at the very best.
Keep it brief. Keep it simple and sweet. Use strong words to represent yourself. For example, use “Champion in this or that” instead of “Win a tournament of these or those”. Also, in preparing a cover letter, there is not need to include unnecessary things of too much boasting about yourself. Save that for the interview. So that you have something to show and say and during the interview, you can say it with your personality.

Prostheses With Neural

So far, this is one of the most advanced bio modifications until today. A set of arms and legs as a substitute for the lost one. We are into that kind of world nowadays. Biology being replaced with technology or rather we could say it is merge together so well that even I myself a bit scared just to imagine the near future. Automail? We are beginning to see one? Probably most of you wonders why I came up with the term automail. It was introduced in the famous anime series, Fullmetal alchemist where human depend on robotics limbs of both arm and legs. It is a development of neural prosthesis. Hurm, interesting? More than that. I was so excited. By using the same principle with the automail, the presthetic arm will be directly linked with your brain, engrafting the sensor so that you can move your new arm the way you think. You can fully control and then send the signals back to your brain. Isn't that awesome?
